At skillbank we realise that you rely very heavily on your computer system. You may have contact lists, bookings, accounts, invoicing, and of course internet and email. But its all too easy for this to fail - and if you have a virus or hard drive crash all that important data can be lost.

What can go wrong?

Modern computers are very reliable. However this can lull you into a false sense of security - they still do need regular maintenance. Here are just a few of the many things that can break your computer:

• dust and air-borne substances like aerosols constantly build up on fans, coolers and power supply
• hot environment causing overheating
• exposure to cold causing condensation and shrinkage (contraction) - a problem for your hard drive.
• mechanical damage - especially disturbing the computer when the drive is running
• electrical surges on mains or telephone lines
• installing or updating software (even anti-virus programs)
• degredation (becoming slow or crashing) due to lack of software maintenance
• viruses, trojan horses, worms, rootkits, ad-ware etc etc!
